Some of the murals that I enjoyed tackling and why

This was the first time I tried the cut out approach with a school mural. This one for the Cleveland Cubs. This way it is portable and can be moved if need be.

This was originally meant for a sidewalk arts festival and it turned into a wall mural in Hills Beaver Creek. Putting the flag in the background helped it jump off the wall some.

This was just cool looking I thought. Often schools want to minimize the fear factor, but the Panther looks menacing in this school near Sioux City.

First outdoor mural I ever did in Beresford. What made this challenging was an ominous storm that was rolling in. I got what I needed done just in time.

I enjoy history, so painting these famous iconic figures from history was great fun. Plus, the school that commissioned them had a plan in place for each hallway they represented. Cool idea.

In the lobby outside a school office. Hard to tell on this photo but the brick I painted this on was difficult. Very coarse and jagged. I liked the challenge.

First serious chalk drawing I was asked to do. Messy, but learned a ton in what not to do as well as what to do.

I like to draw tigers, nuff said.

This fella was a bit of an after thought in a corner of their gym.

This I did for a wall outside of a church youth room.
Interesting bit about this one is that it is painted on rubber floor mats they were going to throw away. Instant canvas material.

Livening up a boring wall space

Good example of how a simple, bold mural can liven up a boring wall space. This mural I did in Brookings for an elementary school took two days to complete.

On the drawing board for future murals

Here are some sketches and designs that are on the docket for approval by schools. I first design the mural to the exact specifications a client wants and then remind them that it will look exactly like it looks on paper - don't want to be making changes on a wall 30 ft in the air.

Personal Commission for a home office

I get asked once in awhile to do a personal commission of a large scale art piece. Here is one that I did for someone who saw me painting live at a worship service and wanted one similar in their office. It measures 4 x 8 ft in size on stretched canvas frame.

Chalk the Walk 2014

InitialMy daughter and I had a great time chalking this story that my daughter wrote. She also was my art partner. She is becoming quite the artist. It took us a day and half to complete and thousands of people walked by and took a look over the festive weekend downtown which also had the sidewalk arts festival in full swing.

My daughter hard at work making her story come to life. So proud of her and her talents.

Practice Chalk Art before Chalk the Walk 2014

My daughter and I decided to practice our chalking prior to tackling Chalk the Walk 2014. Our church had a baptism Sunday so we helped advertise it on the sidewalk as people entered the worship center the day of. Fun to watch people either jump over it or scoot around it.
